Hauraki Installation art

For our art show we made a house full of rubbish and the idea of this is.... would you put rubbish on your furniture and in your house? So we made a roster of when the classes are coming to watch our slide show. Everyone got a class to present there slide show and me and my partner worked out who had which slides and who had to talk in front of the class first. I was talking the loudest because I was sick and everyone before us was quiet.

We found out that there was going to be an underground train station in Auckland. They asked year 6 students of Auckland if we could make a piece of art to put on the wall's of the underground as a tile. So we had to make an art piece of a place that we wanted to go to by train, so I draw Africa because  there are so many cool animals like Lions, Zebras and Giraffes. Africa would be the best country to go to because you could loose more weight or get more exercise and you would get to meet some new people and some new cultural things like dances and foods .

Waikowhai Art Festival

Image
ON Tuesday Waikowhai had a Art festival. Everyone in the school made a piece of art to put in the festival. There was so many people weaving and looking at our amazing art work. Hauraki's art work had to be a Kiwiana bird like a Kea, Kiwi, Tui and a Falcon. I picked a falcon because it looked real complicated and I wanted to practice my art. For my colours I could use what ever I wanted and I used red , yellow and green because I like the Jamaican flag colours. So part of my background was blue for the sky and part of my background was the Jamaican colours. For my actual background there is a tree behind the bird with the sun and some land.

Cameron pools swimming.

This is my class swimming at Cameron pools  they were learning how to get in and out of the pool from the side. So you had to put your hands on the side lean on your stomach and level your self down slowly. I have seen them learn to dive in the pool but some people hurt them selves by belly flopping but I said keep going you can do it just keep trying. On Thursday they had a test to see what group you would be in because we have swimming sports on Friday.  I came second on the swimming sports for freestyle and for backstroke I came second again but I didn't make it to swimming sports for my house group but I was still proud that my friend was in the swimming sports and my sister they were both so fast that they were in the front.

For reading this term we were learning about how we could protect our house or village from a tsunami. So we could make our Fale or our houses on tinker cad or in our books. This is my Fale I designed My Fale with Strong wooden foundations that stick through the ground and I have metal poles holding up the roof. The book we had to read was based a round houses that can last through a tsunami in Samoa. The story we read was called building for the future. The book is talking about the village's that live on the beach because Samoa is getting smaller the water rises every year and sometimes they water rises and they move.

Trip to Tiritiri Matangi island

Image
On Thursday we had a trip to Tiritiri Matangi island. When we got to the ferry we had to scrub our  shoes with this funny looking brush. when we got on the Ferry everyone was so excited because this was there first ride.  everyone got to know each other better because we didn't have our Chromebooks and our friends in our group. When we got on the island we got in to groups of ten with a guide to show us and help us what kind of birds there were like a tui or a kereru or a whitehead. We were so excited because we found a drunk New Zealand pigeon. I learnt some new things like a bird can actually get drunk. so many people found out that fantail birds just stay on the ground. Fantails eat bugs on the ground and when we started walking around the fantail will start jumping around . http://www.tiritirimatangi.org.nz/history
